Mission Briefing

Daryādār Esfir Kadivar,
Coalition 3rd Fleet

Sorry to wake your team, Commander, but we're tracking something very strange. Thirty minutes ago, an alien boarding ship was observed approaching a small orbital research facility in geosync above the northern continent. Our sensors indicate that weapons were fired, but the assault craft now appears to have docked.

The strange part is that at no point did the station call for help. Sensors indicate that at least some of the station's population are still alive. We're also getting standard automated position and status updates from their nav computer, so we know their comms are still online, but not one word of distress was sent out in the ten minutes the assault craft took to approach, nor during whatever battle seems to have occurred.

We managed to hail them just before the assault craft docked, and you'll love their reply:

Situation nominal, Coalition Command. No assistance required. Thanks for keeping an eye on the skies.

Ha! Nothing suspicious about that, hmm?

The station is registered to Ryzhkov Dynamics, a small independant pharmaceutical firm. In theory they are entitled to the full protection of the Coalition fleet. I can think of only two reasons that they wouldn't want the fleet's aid: either they think they can handle the problem on their own, in which case I suspect they're in gross violation of civilian arms control regulations. Or, more likely, whatever they're doing on that station is something they'd rather not risk having to explain to my inspectors.

I want to know what's going on, Commander. But as Ryzhkov have explicitly declined assistance, I am forbidden from sending any support. However, as you and your team are exempt from the Human Coalition Mutual Defense Treaty, I have no way of stopping you from paying them a short visit on your own initiative.

Whatever they're working on, it's bad enough for the aliens to take notice and for the station's populace to be more fearful of discovery than death.

I'm very interested to know what that might be.

Mission Briefing

Superior Delegate
Krasz Volok

Bah! SaTok, Commander, and listen to this mess.

Where the hell's the goddamned button on this f-- nevermind, found it.

----- SENDER UNKNOWN. ORIGIN VECTOR TRACED TO PLANET SURFACE-----

Hello, Delegate Volok. I am not a representative of my people, but I'm certainly the only one of us who will speak to you.

Your god is looking for something. His puppet hasn't exactly been subtle about the search. I have a pretty good idea of what he's after; I don't know where it is now, but I know where they routed it. I'm sending you some coordinates to one of our orbital stations, it might be worth dropping by and... negotiating... for any information they may have. It's a small outpost, they shouldn't give a big strong monkey like you too much trouble.

Oh, and don't trouble yourself too much about the how or the why of this message. The how is that I'm very bright for a Kumi. The why is, honestly... after we're done wiping what's left of you monkeys off our knives and back to whatever cold rock shat you out, I don't want my enemies to come out of it any stronger than they started.

So go kill them and do us both a favor, "Ambassador".

----- TRANSMISSION ENDS -----

Feh. Some set of wukrot on that one, eh?

I'm not about to waste the army's time on this one, but it might be a good chance for you to gain some glory for your Natat. Find out if there's anything to what he says. It's probably crap, but you've got nothing to lose but your life, right, boy?

HA!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go murder my useless ShoKru comms officer.

Why those Kumi pigs always think a goma ambassador would have any interest in talking to them so goddamned much, I have no idea...

Mission Objectives

  • 1 Control more zones than the opponent at the end of the first Game Round.
  • 2 Control more zones than the opponent at the end of the second Game Round.
  • 3 Control more zones than the opponent at the end of the third Game Round.
  • 1 Control the same number of zones as the opponent at the end of any Game Round.
  • 1 Scavenge equipment from a Rogue Researcher
  • 2 Kill or render unconscious more Rogue Researchers than the opponent.
  • or

  • 1 Kill or render unconscious the same number of Rogue Researchers as the opponent.
  • 2 Your Spec-Ops either damages an enemy model, or succeeds on a roll that completes an objective.

Terrain

  • An orbital research station. Operatives should prepare for zero-G operations.
  • Outer Space: The portion of the board outside the station's walls represents the void of space, and is considered a Zero-G zone. All models are assumed to be equipped with sealed suits and basic propulsion units, and thus any model may move through the Zero-G zone.
  • All models gain Super Jump while within the Zero-G zone. Models without Zero-G terrain training are reduced to 4-2 movement speed (unless already slower than this); models with Zero-G terrain training increase their speed to 6-4 (unless already faster than this).

  • Airlocks: Any model passing from the Station Interior to the Station Exterior or vice versa

Deployment & Setup

  • Before the Initiative Roll is made, after both players have chosen their Army Lists, place the following as indicated on the map above:
    • Ten Rogue Scientists (RS). Players alternate placing Rogue Scientists within the Station Interior until all ten have been placed. Each Rogue Scientist must be placed in contact with a piece of terrain that provides cover against the directions of as many doors as possible within the room where it is placed.
  • Both players will deploy on opposite sides of the game table, in a standard Deployment Zone 12 inches deep. Players may not deploy in the Station Interior.

Special Rules & Objectives

  • Control Zones: There are three Control Zones: the Assault Craft (the area on the roof of the ship), the Station Interior (the area within the station's walls), and the Station Exterior (everywhere not within one of the other zones). Control Zones do not include any space within any player's Deployment Zone.
  • At the end of each Game Round, each player checks how many Control Zones they are dominating and Objective Points are counted.

A Control Zone is considered Dominated by a player if he has more Army Points than the adversary inside the zone. Only troops considered as miniatures or Markers (Camouflage, Spawn-Embryo, Seed-Embryo…) count, as well as AI Beacons, Proxies and G: Servant Remotes. Those troops in Null state will not be counted. Those Markers representing weapons or pieces of equipment (Like Mines or Deployable Repeaters), fake Holoechoes and any Marker that does not represent a trooper will not be counted either.

Players will consider a trooper to be inside a Control Zone when more than half of the trooper’s base is inside the Structure.

  • Rogue Scientists: The interior of the station is currently occupied by Rogue Scientists, which use the following profile:

  • LI
    Rogue Scientist
MOV CC BS PH WIP ARM BTS W S
    4-4 11 12 11 15 1 3 1 2
    Abilities Explode, Kinematika Lv.1, Neurocinetics
    Equipment: Cube
Weapons: Plasma Carbine, Flash Pulse, Viral CCW

Rogue Scientists are hostile to all players. They do not receive an active turn, but may perform AROs against enemy models (all AROs are determined by the reactive player).

  • Scavenge Gear: Any Specialist model may perform the Scavenge special skill against a Rogue Scientist in the Immobilized or Unconscious state. Any weapon looted in this way has Limited Ammo [2]. In addition to any gear scavenged when performing this action, the Specialist model also gains an Intel marker.
  • Once looted, an Intel marker may be taken from the ground or from the hands of a friendly, Immobilized, or Null-state model by spending a short skill while in base contact with the marker.

At the end of the game, each player in possession of one or more Intel markers will secure the Ryzhkov Serum Campaign Reward for his faction.

Campaign Reward: Ryzhkov Serum [Resource]

The Ryzhkov Serum is a reusable resource that may be used by the faction that secures it for the remainder of the campaign. Each round when assigning players to Mission Sites, this resource may be allocated to one Site to assist the allied player fighting there.

Benefit: After models have been deployed at the chosen site but before the first Player Turn, one friendly model may be selected to receive the Serum (a model with STR cannot be chosen). The chosen model must immediately attempt a PH roll; if the model is in base contact with a friendly Doctor, it gains +3 on this roll. On a success, the model gains Metachemistry this game and may immediately roll on that table. On a failure, the model becomes Extremely Impetuous and Irregular.
