Mission Briefing

Imperial Agent Lao Shui,

I have just come from a very disturbing briefing, Commander. The PanOceanian territories have lost control of their governor, who has betrayed his race and defected to the demon that besieges us. As we speak, he uses his top-level Coalition security clearance to ransack our shared intelligence apparatus, turning over vital secrets to his new masters.

It should come as no surprise that the death of this world approaches by way of PanOceanian weakness.

Feh.

ALEPH's attempts to shut down the gwei lo governor's network access have been blocked; the only way to revoke his access and stop him from selling humanity's secrets is for a member of the Coalition Council to personally shut him down at the network hub.

I have been selected for this tedious task. You will accompany me. ALEPH insists that we hurry, no doubt to cover up this embarassing incident so that it doesn't reflect too poorly on NeoTerra.

Let us wash our hands of this mess quickly, that we might return to the Dragon Emperor's glorious work and drive the demon from this world.

Our primary offensive has collapsed. The shasvastii's plan to sneak past the human lines instead of smashing our way in like proper soldiers has utterly failed. The airstrike the snivelling worm was supposed to send us never arrived; those resources were instead redirected to its own protection, dooming our offensive. The cowardice of the Shasvastii once again shames us before the Machine. This betrayal will not soon be forgotten.

But all is not lost. I have knelt before the Ur and begged them for a chance to redeem the unit, and the Machine has given us one. The construct through which it has been directing this campaign has fallen, and so it requires us to act as its mighty fist in carrying out a mission of crucial importance.

In a few minutes, this dropship will deposit us on one of the larger islands in the north, where we will find the beating heart of the human data network. I will admit that I do not understand the Intelligence's plan, men, but I know our part-- we must storm this facility and prevent the humans from doing... something.

Bah, I'm no good with computers. Just... whatever it seems like they're doing, WE WILL STOP THEM!

Mission Objectives

  • 1 At the end of Round 1, control more Consoles than your opponent.
  • 2 At the end of Round 2, control more Consoles than your opponent.
  • 3 At the end of Round 3, control more Consoles than your opponent.

  • 1 At the end of any round, control the same number of Consoles as your opponent.

  • 2 Human Coalition: Transmit Lao Shui's command codes.

  • 2 Combined Army: Collect Lao Shui's cube.
  • 2 Your Spec-Ops either damages an enemy model, or succeeds on a roll that completes an objective.

Terrain

  • A remote network backup center on Invernaculum. Operatives should dress for arctic conditions.

Deployment & Setup

  • Both players will deploy on opposite sides of the game table, in a standard Deployment Zone 12 inches deep.

Special Rules & Objectives

  • Consoles: The five antennae on the board make up a secure transmission network. A player is considered to control an Console if he is the only model with a Specialist model in a non-Null state in base contact with the Console. A player is considered to dominate the network if he controls at least three Consoles.
  • Lao Shui: Imperial Agent Lao Shui and her Tóngshī bodyguard must be included in the Attacker's army at a cost of 65pts and +1 SWC.

    Lao Shui is a character model and is therefore subject to rules for Character Death.

  • Transmit Command Codes: As a short skill while in base contact with any Console, Lao Shui may attempt to transmit her command codes by succeeding on a normal WIP roll as a short skill. On a failure, this roll may be reattempted as many times as required, spending the corresponding short skill each time. This transmission may only be attempted while the Human Coalition dominates the network.

    • If the Human Coalition successfully transmits Lau Shui's command codes, they will secure the AI Support Routine Battle Prep for the Week 5 mega-battle.

  • Collect Lao Shui's Cube: Any model may take Lao Shui's cube by rendering her to a Null state with a melee attack, or by performing a Coup de Grace on her while she is in the Unconscious state.

    • If the Combined Army successfully collects Lao Shui's cube, they will secure the AI Support Routine Battle Prep for the Week 5 mega-battle.

Battle Prep: Strategist

Battle Prep rewards apply a bonus to all friendly players during the Week 5 mega-battle.

Benefit: During Week 5, each allied player receives a bonus corresponding to the initiative roll:

  • First Turn: Each allied player who has the first turn in his game may deploy one model up to 6" outside of his deployment zone.
  • Second Turn: Each allied player who has the second turn in his game may spend an order from his order pool to activate one model at the start of the game before the first player's first turn. The player may not use this order to perform a coordinated order or to activate a
